Commentary

The beaker was collocated inside the urn with the ashes of the deceased and other metal artifacts. Probably these objects were, since deposited inside the urn, personal objects of the deceased. The grave can be dated to the horizon Golasecca II A - II B (2nd - 3rd quarter of the 6th century, Gambari & Colonna 1986: 120, 128-129). (Morandi after Gambari: Ticino A) The shape of the beaker is archaic, probably derived from metal object types (Morandi 1999: 153, Gambari & Colonna 1986: 126-127).
