The reading {{w||etu}} is given by Volontè Fredini and Morandi, both from the object; {{w||atu}} is suggested by {{bib|Solinas 1995}}: 384 (based on the drawing in Veronesi) and [[User:Martin Braun|Martin Braun]] (based on Morandi's photo, where the upper bar of putative epsilon appears more faint and quite close to the second bar). Considering that the two readings from examination agree, and also that the surface of the fragment does not appear to bear any other deep scratches, {{w||etu}} must be preferred (but cf. [[VA·14]]).
Inscribed on what was the inside of the vessel (length 3 cm). Both Volontè Fredini and Morandi read {{w||etu}}, while {{bib|Solinas 1995}}: 384 (based on the drawing in Veronesi) suggests ''atu'' because the upper bar of epsilon is somewhat fainter than the other scratches and quite close to the second bar. Since the surface of the fragment does not bear any other deep scratches, {{w||etu}} must be preferred. The form can be analysed as a Celtic personal name (see the word page).

Both forms can be analysed as Celtic personal names (see the word pages).

Commentary

First published in Volontè Fredini 1990: 68, 72. Examined for LexLep on 30th April 2022.

Images in Veronesi 1990: tav. XXIVc (drawing), Morandi 2004: 609, fig. 17.123 (drawing) and tav. XIX.123 (photo).

Inscribed on what was the inside of the vessel (length 3 cm). Both Volontè Fredini and Morandi read etu, while Solinas 1995: 384 (based on the drawing in Veronesi) suggests atu because the upper bar of epsilon is somewhat fainter than the other scratches and quite close to the second bar. Since the surface of the fragment does not bear any other deep scratches, etu must be preferred. The form can be analysed as a Celtic personal name (see the word page).
