Commentary

Length of inscription 10 cm. Omicron is full-height in both instances, probably due to influence from Latin writing (Marchesini & Stifter 2018: 145). The angles of final sigma are not very pronounced, but the reading is supported by the straight-forward interpretation of the sequence as an individual name in the nominative.

The vase was found in the grave of a foetus; it is not clear whether the name is that of the buried child, inscribed on a piece of burial equipment, or the name of the vase's original owner.
