Commentary
The name probably has a Celtic etymology and contains the base leu̯k- 'bright'. It finds a comparandum in the first element of the Celtic compound leukur-u̯ritu (NO·28). The two elements are clearly related, but morphologically opaque – both have u instead of regular o (leu̯ko-) as stem vowel (see the morpheme page) and feature an r-suffix. The latter might be adjectival -ro, but leukururitu lacks the suffix' stem vowel, and u remains unexplained.
