Commentary

o- or i̯o-stem personal name in the genitive; also attested in the nominative plios – see there for a discussion of the phonetic form of the base and etymology. The form attests the archaic (arguably Lepontic) genitive morpheme -oi̯so. Cf. Morandi 1999: 183, Uhlich 1999: 293, Motta 2000: 208 f., Eska 1995: 42 f., Eska 2009: 23, Eska & Evans 2009: 37, Villar & Prósper 2005, 175, n. 37. Interpreted as a verb form by Tibiletti Bruno 1969: 999–1016, Tibiletti Bruno 1969b: 179, Tibiletti Bruno 1978: 146 f., 167, Tibiletti Bruno 1989: 107 f., see the critique in Campanile 1969: 211–215 and Gambari & Colonna 1986: 136–138.
