Commentary

San Gallo is the name of a little church in Vergiate by the road to Cimbro, originally the chapel of a farm owned by the monastery of St. Gallen. It is built upon the foundations of a Roman building, and numerous Roman-age finds including a thermal building were made in the vicinity.
