Commentary

Excavations of Roman Imperial Age necropoleis (or rather parts of one large necropolis) have been conducted at San Lorenzo, a hamlet north of Parabiago, in 1928, 1934, 1991 and 1993; see Binaghi Leva et al. 1996 for a detailed collection of the 1991 and 1993 finds, and specifically Volonté 1996: 30–36 with literature for the older excavations, as well as late La Tène graves (excavation 1958) which indicate a continuity of the necropolis from the 2nd c. BC to the late Imperial Age.
