Commentary

One of a number of archaeological sites in Fornovo San Giovanni, situated east of the village centre (presumably somewhere along Via San Pietro), excavated in 1988–1989. The area was used as a necropolis with cremation graves between the 3rd and 1st centuries BC, while finds from the Roman Imperial age indicate a later settlement (Fortunati 2007: 576). See Fortunati Zuccàla 1998: 74 on finds from Brolo, and Fortunati 2007: 575–577 on the find sites of Fornovo San Giovanni in general.
