Commentary

The excavations in the locality Casate in Breccia (Como), made in 1972 before the building of a public pool, revealed different facies belonging to late Golasecca (III A) as well a La Tène; originally suspected to be a sanctuary area (Rittatore Vonwiller 1974: 47-49, Negroni Catacchio 1974, Negroni Catacchio 1975: 333, Luraschi et al. 1973: 164 f., no. 77 with map), the La Tène layers are now thought to belong to a necropolis in an abandoned part of the Golasecca settlement (De Marinis 1986: 34 via Morandi 1999: 174 f. with n. 83, Morandi 2004: 645; see also the entry on the RAPTOR map (CO.SV.7). All inscription finds from the site date to the younger layers.
