Commentary
Based on the working hypothesis that Etruscan and Raetic are related languages, Rix is able to add some explanations to the Raetic grammar, and to propose a "Urtyrsenisch" (Proto-Tyrsenian) as common ancestor of Etruscan, Raetic, and Lemnian. Concerning Celtic in Northern Italy he mentions:
- The inscription on the Negau helmet A, written in the Sanzeno alphabet, is seen as Celtic according to Prosdocimi & Scardigli 1976: 224 f. [p. 6].
- The inscription PID 248 may be witten in the Lepontic alphabet judging by the letter forms [p. 10].
- The Lepontic inscriptions PID 280 and PID 269 contain adjectival patronyms [p. 13].
