Commentary

Thematic demonstrative pronominal stem < PIE *is (m.nom.sg.) + *to- (a thematicised particle or pronominal *to-), also attested in Gaulish ison (m./n.acc.sg.), isoc (adv.) on the Chamalières tablet (RIG II.2 L-100), and Celtib. (with apheresis) śTam (f.acc.sg., MLH K.06.01), śTena (n.acc.pl., Botorrita I A3, A6) and (without apheresis) isTe (deictic particle, Botorrita I A9, A11); see Eska 1991 for a detailed discussion.
