Commentary
First published in Bertolone 1941: 27 f. Examined for LexLep on 27th January 2022.
Images in Bertolone 1941: 28, fig. 5 (drawing), Tibiletti Bruno 1966: 17 (photo and drawing), Morandi 1999: 173 (drawing) and pl. X.3 (photo), Morandi 2004: 548, fig. 11.41 (drawing), Rapi 2009b: 213, fig. 1 (photo) and 214, fig. 2 (drawing).
Inscribed on the shoulder of the bottle (length 1.3 cm). The rightmost character consists of two scratches forming
, cut as deeply as those of the other character and creating a character of the same height, prolonged more faintly on top. ![]()
ur is preferred by Rapi 2009b: 214. Morandi 1999: 173 f., no. 19 considers ![]()
tu (sinistroverse, as opposed to equally possible dextroverse ut), which is also attested otherwise in the corpus (also Morandi 2004: 545, no. 41 B). The reasoning behind śu suggested by Tibiletti Bruno 1966: 20 f. (see also Tibiletti Bruno 1978: 149, Solinas 1995: 369, no. 113,1) is unclear to me. In any case, the inscription is most probably a non-language-encoding mark, or possibly a numeral '15'.
