Commentary

The context is not specific: the Ligurian attribution of the so-called "Lepontic" inscriptions and their Indo-European character is generally accepted. He discards the Celtic hypothesis because of the genitive forms in -ui and -ai, because of the retention of final -m., because of -pe < - Kʷe etc.
