Frequent base of simplex PNN in Continental Celtic, e.g. cottus, cottius, cottilus, and as second element in the ethnonym atecotti (KGP: 184, GPN: 186 f., Lochner von Hüttenbach 1989: 61 f., DLG: 127, Delamarre 2007: X, Meid 2005: 191 f., Stüber et al. 2009: 260); lexically in MBret. coz and OCorn. coth. Probably non-IE (DLG: 127, Matasović 2009 s.v. *kotto-).
