The text is Latin, but the personal name is assumed to be etymologically Celtic by TB, with the Latin spelling ⟨ae⟩ representing */{{p||ai̯}}/. She considers {{w||maeloni}} to be a genitive of an ''o''-stem ''maelon''(''i'')''os'' and the inscription to be proprietary, but the form could also be a dative of an ''on''-stem ''maelo'' in a gift inscription – see the word page. | |||
