Feminine patronym in {{m||-ikn-}}, formed from either an ''on''-stem ''nimū'' or an ''o''-stem ''nimon''(''ii̯'')''os'' (itself derived from ''nimū''). A base ''nim''- is only very sporadically attested in Gaulish ({{bib|Delamarre 2007}}: 141 has one each of ''nimus'' and ''nimius''), so we may be dealing with a variant of ''nē̆m''- as in {{bib|AE}} 1999, 71 {{tr|lat|nemonius}}, {{bib|CIL}} XII 3450 {{tr|lat|nemonia}}. Since variation between short /{{p||e}}/ and /{{p||i}}/ would be irregular (but see {{bib|GPN}}: 392), this would indicate long /{{p||ī}}/ ~ /{{p||ē}}/; see {{m||nēm-}} and cf. {{m||dēu̯-}}. | |||

Commentary
Feminine patronym in -ikn-, formed from either an on-stem nimū or an o-stem nimon(ii̯)os (itself derived from nimū). A base nim- is only very sporadically attested in Gaulish (Delamarre 2007: 141 has one each of nimus and nimius), so we may be dealing with a variant of nē̆m- as in AE 1999, 71 nemonius, CIL XII 3450 nemonia. Since variation between short /e/ and /i/ would be irregular (but see GPN: 392), this would indicate long /ī/ ~ /ē/; see nēm- and cf. dēu̯-.
