Fragment of the rim and bottom of a coral-red flat bowl found during the 1984 excavation of the settlement of Prestino (Via Isonzo, area IACP) in US 550, the filling layer of a ditch which yielded a lot of G III A ceramics (De Marinis & Motta 1991: 214, no. 6). Dated to G III A 1–2 (5th c. BC) by De Marinis et al. 1985: 29 (also De Marinis 1986: 75, no. 3), but more precisely to G III A 1 in De Marinis & Motta 1991. De Marinis 1986 refers to the fragment as black-varnished, an error due to the confusion with VA·5, which was adopted by Gambari & Colonna 1988: 162, no. 9 (cf. Morandi 1999: 177, n. 87). | |||

Commentary
Images in De Marinis & Motta 1991: 215, fig. 10 (drawing), Morandi 1999: 201, tav. XIV.1 (photo = Morandi 2004: 802, tav. XXV.185).
