Inscribed on the inside bottom of the bowl; the reading appears to be unambiguous (see also {{bib|Morandi 1999}}: 185, n. 103, {{bib|De Marinis & Motta 2007}}: 137). The sequence {{w||rik}}, which also occurs in a similar position on a black-glazed bowl from [[Gottolengo]] from the same timeframe (see [[BS·9]]), can be interpreted as an abbreviation of a personal name (see further on the word page).

Commentary

First published in Frontini 1985: 68, no. 1.

Images in Frontini 1985: tav. 9.2, Morandi 2004: 679, fig. 27.240 (drawing), De Marinis & Motta 2007: 154, fig. 1.2 (drawing).

Inscribed on the inside bottom of the bowl; the reading appears to be unambiguous (see also Morandi 1999: 185, n. 103, De Marinis & Motta 2007: 137). The sequence rik, which also occurs in a similar position on a black-glazed bowl from Gottolengo from the same timeframe (see BS·9), can be interpreted as an abbreviation of a personal name (see further on the word page).
