Commentary
Personal name in the nominative; a number of options are available for the analysis of the base. The name could be etymologically Celtic and derived from the theonym *lug-; cf. DLG: 211 and the names in Delamarre 2007: X, esp. CIL XII 4468 lugius. Names in ⟨luc(c)⟩- are attested on Gaulish coins (e.g. RIG M-198 luccios, M-199 lucios, M-210 lucotius), as potter's names (e.g. luceios, lucinus), and in Latin inscriptions from the Gaulish area, see Delamarre 2007: X. While some of the latter may be variants of names in lug-, the Latin praenomen lucius (base cognate with leu̯k-) is likely to play a part as a loan name used as an individual name, often with a Celticised ending – so also in the present case, considering the strong Latin influence at Cerrione.
