Commentary

Though incomplete, the name can be assumed to be a patronym in -al- makonalui or makonalai from a personal name on-stem makū or derived o-stem makonos. The best comparanda are names in magu- 'youth', cf. e.g. CIL XIII 5803 magunia (Langes), ?? magunus (Brescia), variant with /k(k)/ V 6931 maconus. Cf. Tibiletti Bruno 1978: 139, Motta 2000: 200.
