Commentary
Most probably the abbreviation of a name in art-. The repeated attestation in the Bergamo area may indicate a manufacturer's mark, though this is doubtful for BG·6, which is earlier than the other two attestations and written in a different place on an object of different style. Morandi 2004: 666 (no. 227) also compares ART (Latin alphabet) on the shoulder of a late La Tène pitcher from tomb 2 at Pianvalle (Negroni Catacchio 1982: 323, PV 18 with drawing fig. 22).
