Attestation: BG·24 (art), BG·25 (art), BG·6 (]ạrt[) (3)
Language: prob. Celtic
Word Type: prob. proper noun
Semantic Field: prob. personal name

Grammatical Categories: indeterminable

Morphemic Analysis: art- (?)
Phonemic Analysis: unknown
Meaning: abbreviation (?)

Most probably the abbreviation of a name in art-. The repeated attestation in the Bergamo area may indicate a manufacturer's mark, though this is doubtful for BG·6, which is earlier than the other two attestations and written in a different place on an object of different style. Morandi 2004: 666 (no. 227) also compares ART (Latin alphabet) on the shoulder of a late La Tène pitcher from tomb 2 at Pianvalle (Negroni Catacchio 1982: 323, PV 18 with drawing fig. 22).
