Commentary

Lower part of a ceramic beaker with globular body (type G after De Marinis) in two fragments, found in the filling layer (u.s. 298) of a pit (u.s. 299) below the Roman amphitheatre of Milano, between traverses 37 and 38 of the Roman structure in section 8 of the 2019/2020 excavation. The pit contains a large number of Golasecca and La Tène pottery and is tentatively interpreted as a votive deposit. See Roncoroni in Consonni et al. 2021: 31–42 on the find context and 33–35 on the object (no. 4) and dating. The beaker is on display in the Antiquarium Alda Levi, but will go into storage when the current exhibition is dismantled.
