Commentary
First published in De Marinis & Biaggio Simona 2000 II: 462, no. 540. Examined for LexLep on 17th October 2023.
Image in Morandi 2004: 706 (drawing).
Inscribed on the shoulder of the vessel between the lines of two decorative circles (length 2.8 cm); the scratches are faint, but clearly visible. Mu appears with only three bars, which is irregular in the Lepontic alphabet, and the bars are very short, but no other reading is feasible. San in the anlaut is likely to represent /d/ (Stifter 2010: 372). The sequence śium should be expected to be an abbreviation of a personal name, but no comparanda are available in Gaulish onomastics (see the word page).
