Commentary
Though incomplete, the name can be assumed to be a patronym in -al- makonalui or makonalai from a personal name on-stem makū or derived o-stem makonos. The best comparanda are names in magu- 'youth', cf. e.g. CIL V 4609 MAGONI (gen., Brescia), XIII 5803 magunia (Langes), variant with /k(k)/ V 6931 maconi (gen., Valperga) (Delamarre 2007: 124). Cf. Tibiletti Bruno 1978: 139. Possible, but less likely is a derivation with the suffix -om-. See also Salomon 2024: 148 f.
