Commentary
Personal name in the nominative, either an o-stem with loss of final /s/ (see The Cisalpine Celtic Languages), or an on-stem with substitution of /ū/ with /ō/ under Latin influence. See Stifter 2010: 372 on the reading of san as /d/. The name could be connected with Latin names in dur-, which are derived from Lat. dūrus 'hard' (cf. Stifter ibid.), but the base dur- is also well attested in Celtic onomastics (and may have the same etymology, see dūr-). If an on-stem, the name is a hypocoristic, while a thematic formation without a suffix *dūros would be reminiscent of Lepontic simplex names (see Onomastics).
