Commentary

Images in Morandi 2004: tav. XX.125 (photos).

Inscribed in two places on the shoulder of the pitcher. The first letter of the three-letter sequence L2 s (?) is read as retrograde and inverted lambda by Morandi, interpreting lob as an abbreviation of a personal name. Beta indicates the Latin alphabet, but the first letter is not clearly identifiable; both parts of the inscription and their relation to each other are unclear.
