Length of inscription 3 cm; small, but well preserved.
The fifth letter is usually pi in the Lepontic alphabet, including VR·28 from the same necropolis, but unambiguous exceptions do occur (see L). The reading with lambda must be preferred in this case, as it results in a plausible personal name which is otherwise attested in the corpus (NM·11; see the word page). A suffix -po- or -bo- is unknown; Stifter in Marchesini & Stifter 2018: 146 mentions the possibility of a dative plural in -pus, but this would be unparalleled among the one-word inscriptions in the corpus. In any case, in regard of the low dating and the accompanying Latin mark, the form is most probably Latinised (-os → -us).
