Morandi segments the group of scratches into inverted alpha and san written in ligature, as shown in his drawing; the drawing in Casini & Motta shows an additional little scratch in between which might serve as a forshortened first hasta of san. In any case, the reading is highly doubtful; the status of the incision as language-encoding writing must be considered uncertain.
