Attestation: NM·16 (iazus) (1)
Status: uncertain
Language: Celtic
Word Type: proper noun
Semantic Field: personal name

Grammatical Categories: nom. sg. masc.

Morphemic Analysis: assus or assus
Phonemic Analysis: /a?us/
Meaning: 'Azus'

Personal name in the nominative; see the inscription page on the uncertain reading of the anlaut (alternatively iazus).

Under the assumption that zeta reflects a tau gallicum cluster, the base can be compared to assu-/astu- (Lejeune 1971: 130 f.); in this case, final -us may be the u-stem ending, but a Latinised o-stem is also possible.
