Commentary

Lexical bou̯d-i- 'victory, gain' is well attested as an onomastic element in Gaulish, usually in simplex names or as first element in compound names – an exception eniboudius (also enaboudia) is mentioned in GPN: 158 with n. 2. In Pannonia, cf. boudio (Meid 2005: 188). Cf. KGP: 151 f., 154, GPN: 156–158, DLG: 83 f., Delamarre 2007: 214 et passim, Stüber et al. 2009: 270, Matasović 2009 s.v. *bowdi-.

Attested only once in the Cisalpine area so far, in a compound name which belongs to the Ambi-Danubian rather than the Cisalpine Celtic sphere.
