Commentary
Names containing an element kos(s)- are attested throughout the Gaulish area, see AcS I: 1136–1140, Evans 1967: 334, Meid 2005: 265, Delamarre 2007: 218. As observed by Evans and Meid, it is not certain that the base is etymologically Celtic. Delamarre assumes that a base with a tau gallicum auslaut kosti/u- > kossi/u- > kosi/u-, but proposes no etymology.
