The three letters may represent an abbreviation of a name (Solinas 2016: 378 suggests a base māro- 'great', Marchesini & Stifter 2018: 149 alternatively marko- 'horse'; no names in mar- are attested in Cisalpine Celtic), or a mark of some kind (Solinas).
