Lexically in OIr. ríad 'riding, driving, voyage' (verb -réid 'ride, drive'), Gaul. *rēdā > MLat. rēda 'four-wheeled cart', see Matasović 2009: 307. Gaulish personal names which contain the base include, e.g., CIL V 3931 redonius (Verona), eporedorix, see AcS I: 1452 f., II: 1096–1105, KGP: 257, GPN: 242 f., DLG: 256, 315, Delamarre 2007: 229 et passim, Meid 2005: 114.
