Commentary

Possibly an abbreviation of a personal name in u̯ati- 'prophet' / u̯atu- 'prophecy' (DLG: 308, Delamarre 2007: 235 et passim) or u̯ad- '?' (see Delamarre 2007: 187), neither of which are otherwise attested in the Cisalpine Celtic corpus. Pauli 1888: 46 and Molinari 1974: 70 compare names in Roman inscriptions from Northern Italy (uatta CIL V 7181, Piemonte; uatia CIL V 5875, Milano).
