Commentary
Two morphological segmentations are possible to analyse the form.
1. Base u̯asso- 'servant' with suffix -ek- (Kretschmer 1905: 103, Lejeune 1971: 65 f., n. 231, Tibiletti Bruno 1978: 145, Tibiletti Bruno 1981: 165). Though u̯asso- is well attested, the suffix is not common and not otherwise attested as a personal name formant in Cisalpine Celtic.
2. Preverb u̯o- > u̯a- (see the morpheme page and cf. kituaretos) and base seg- 'victory'.
The second option, also in Delamarre 2007: 190, seems to us preferable with regard to the comparanda uasego (Lusitania) and repeated uosegus in Germania superior (Delamarre 2007: 190, 204).
See also Rhŷs 1913: 61, Prósper 2002: 344, Villar & Prósper 2005: 260.
