Masculine ''o''-stem individual name in the nominative. Cf. {{w||sola}} and names from a base {{m||sollo-}} in {{bib|Delamarre 2007}}.
''o''-stem individual name in the nominative. See {{m||sol(l)-}} on the uncertain etymology and meaning of the base and the variation between simple and geminate /{{p||l}}/. A monothematic ''o''-stem ''soll''(''i'')''us'' is only attested with geminate /{{p||ll}}/ (see {{bib|bib|Delamarre 2007}}: 171), and names in ''soll''- are notably common in Lombardy ({{bib|CIL}} V 5830 {{tr|lat|sollonius}} [Milano], 4197 {{tr|lat|sollonius}} [Brescia], 3426 {{tr|lat|sollonio}} [dat., Verona], {{tr|lat|solliae}} [dat., Milano]), but cf. also {{w||sola}} at [[Cureggio]] and {{bib|CIL}} V 6553 {{tr|lat|sola}} at Novara.

Commentary

o-stem individual name in the nominative. See sol(l)- on the uncertain etymology and meaning of the base and the variation between simple and geminate /l/. A monothematic o-stem soll(i)us is only attested with geminate /ll/ (see Delamarre 2007: 171), and names in soll- are notably common in Lombardy (CIL V 5830 sollonius [Milano], 4197 sollonius [Brescia], 3426 sollonio [dat., Verona], solliae [dat., Milano]), but cf. also sola at Cureggio and CIL V 6553 sola at Novara.
