Commentary
Etymologically Celtic on-stem personal name mokū adapted to Latin mokō in the genitive. The Celtic name is derived, with simplified cluster, from mokk- 'pig', which is very well attested in northern Italy and Liguria; cf. especially CIL V 7749 moco (Genova) and the genitive 6644 mocconis. See also Barocelli 1918: 89 f., Tibiletti Bruno 1978c: 26, Tibiletti Bruno 1981: 169, Morandi 2004: 563.
