Patronymic of *krasanos vel sim., ev. related to Grasinius? (Lejeune 1971: 50, 52, 64 n. 208); or related to the Gaul. names Craxanius, Craxius, Craxsantus, etc. (cf. Tibiletti Bruno 1978: 150, DLG: 129, Delamarre 2007: 77, 218). The meaning of craxanto-, craxo- may be 'toad', cf. dial. Fr. graisset, OProv. graissan, Catal. grexá 'toad'.
