Commentary

Damaged hydria of red clay, decorated with bands of red and white varnish, found in one of two tombs excavated in March 1879 on the road between Gravedona and Domaso (Barelli 1879b: 26–28). Dating ("epoca recenziore") from Morandi (cf. Barelli p. 28). According to Barelli (p. 26), the finds were given to the Museo Archeologico ‟Paolo Giovio” (Como) (cf. Solinas), but according to Morandi the vase "risulta irreperibile successivamente alla scoperta"; it is not included in the museum's inventory (April 2025).
