Commentary

Patronym in the dative formed from a personal name telios. The best comparanda for the base are names in dell-, especially the formally equivalent delli̯os, delli̯ā, which have a wide distribution in Transalpine Gaul (e.g. CIL XII 5011 dellia [Narbonne], s. Delamarre 2007: 219 et passim). The group may be connected to a verbal root dell- 'sprout' (MW deillyaw 'emerge from' < PIE *dʰelh₁- 'flow out' as per Schumacher KP: 257–259).
