Masculine personal name in the nominative. The best comparanda are found in ''uindilla'', ''uindillus'', ''uindillius'' from {{m||u̯ind-}} 'white' (see {{bib|Delamarre 2007}}: '''X''' and '''X'''). This etymology, however, disagrees with the assumption that ''-nd-'' > ''-nn-'' in both Lepontic and Cisalpine Gaulish (see [[The Cisalpine Celtic Languages]]). {{bib|Lejeune 1971}}: 65 f., n. 232 therefore suggests {{m||u̯it-|u̯itu-}} 'willow', cf. especially ''uitulus'' (if not Latin 'calf' but Celtic, as suggested by {{bib|Birkhan 1970}}: 274 f. wth n. 583). As in this comparandum the vowel in the suffix would be expected to be ''u'' rather than ''i'', even if this is not always regular (see the morpheme page).
Masculine personal name in the nominative. The base may be {{m||u̯īt-|u̯ītu-}} 'willow', cf. {{tr|lat|uitula}} (Belgica, s. {{bib|Delamarre 2007}}: 203), but the vowel in the suffix would be expected to be ''u'' rather than ''i'' (even if this is not always regular, see the morpheme page); an alternative is {{m||u̯id-}} 'knowing' uel sim. Cf. {{bib|Lejeune 1971}}: 65 f., n. 232.

Also attested (though possibly with another stem) is the genitive {{w||uitili}}.

Probably also attested (though possibly with a different stem) is the genitive {{w||uitili}}.

Commentary

Masculine personal name in the nominative. The base may be u̯ītu- 'willow', cf. uitula (Belgica, s. Delamarre 2007: 203), but the vowel in the suffix would be expected to be u rather than i (even if this is not always regular, see the morpheme page); an alternative is u̯id- 'knowing' uel sim. Cf. Lejeune 1971: 65 f., n. 232.

Rhŷs 1913: 40: CIL XIII 5870 uintili (gen.?); Tibiletti Bruno 1978: 150 f., Morandi 2004: 653 uittio, uittulinus

Probably also attested (though possibly with a different stem) is the genitive uitili.
