Commentary
A name attius is attested a few times in Transalpine Gaul (see Delamarre 2007: 32), as are numerous names in at(t)- (see the morpheme page); cf. Lejeune 1971: 63, n. 202. As noted by Rhŷs 1913: 60, antios or adios are equally possible – both could be a hypocoristics from any name in ant- (Delamarre 2007: 23) or ad-; for the latter, Rhŷs compares adio at Arles (CIL XII 796), and cf. the potter's name adius at Friedberg (Samian Research ID 15375). Kretschmer 1905: 125 compares Ligurian saltus atielia on the Tabula Alimentaria I.79.
