''at(t)-'', cf. {{w||atilonei}}, {{w||ateratos}}, {{w||atiaki}}, {{w||atis}} ({{bib|Morandi 1999}}: 173, fn. 75, cf. {{bib|Tibiletti Bruno 1978}}: 144-145, {{bib|Lejeune 1971}}: 49, 63 fn 202, {{bib|DLG}}: 59 (''Attios''), {{bib|Delamarre 2007}}: 31, 212, {{bib|Sims-Williams 2003}}: 61, 163). Since in [[TI·4|Giubiasco]] the Italic anthroponym {{w||spuris}} is attested, ''Atios'' could be also a gaulishised form of Lat. ''Aties'' or ''Attius'' (cf. {{bib|Morandi 1999}}: 173, fn. 76, {{bib|Marinetti 1982b}}: 169-181, {{w||lekatos}} < ''legatus'')
A name ''attius'' is attested a few times in Transalpine Gaul (see {{bib|Delamarre 2007}}: 32), as are numerous names in {{m||at(t)-}} (see the morpheme page); cf. {{bib|Lejeune 1971}}: 63, n. 202. As noted by {{bib|Rhŷs 1913}}: 60, ''antios'' or ''adios'' are equally possible – both could be a hypocoristics from any name in ''ant''- ({{bib|Delamarre 2007}}: 23) or {{m||ad-}}; for the latter, Rhŷs compares {{tr|lat|adio}} at Arles ({{bib|CIL}} XII 796), and cf. the potter's name {{tr|lat|adius}} at Friedberg ([https://www1.rgzm.de/samian/home/frames.htm Samian Research ID 15375]).

Commentary

A name attius is attested a few times in Transalpine Gaul (see Delamarre 2007: 32), as are numerous names in at(t)- (see the morpheme page); cf. Lejeune 1971: 63, n. 202. As noted by Rhŷs 1913: 60, antios or adios are equally possible – both could be a hypocoristics from any name in ant- (Delamarre 2007: 23) or ad-; for the latter, Rhŷs compares adio at Arles (CIL XII 796), and cf. the potter's name adius at Friedberg (Samian Research ID 15375).

See also Tibiletti Bruno 1978: 145, Morandi 1999: 173, Morandi 2004: 553. Cf. maybe BS·15.
