Personal name in the nominative, either a short name with suffix {{m||-(i)i̯-}} derived from {{m||all-|allo-}} 'other' (lit. 'Secundus', cf. {{bib|Rhŷs 1913}}: 42–44), or hypocoristic from a compound name with first element {{m||all-|allo-}} (e.g. {{bib|CIL}} XIII 3109 {{tr|lat|allobrox}} [cogn., Nîmes], XIII 1323 {{tr|lat|allovire}} [Clion]). Theoretically, the base could also be ''ali̯o''-, cf. the ''n''-stem {{bib|CIL}} V 7730 {{tr|lat|alioni}} (cogn., Mondovi), but names in ''allo''- are overall more common (cf. in the Alpine region {{bib|CIL}} XII 81 [{{bib|AE}} 1999, no. 997] {{tr|lat|allius}} [gent.] and 85 {{tr|lat|alliae}} at Embrun). Commentary
Personal name in the nominative, either a short name with suffix -(i)i̯- derived from allo- 'other' (lit. 'Secundus', cf. Rhŷs 1913: 42–44), or hypocoristic from a compound name with first element allo- (e.g. CIL XIII 3109 allobrox [cogn., Nîmes], XIII 1323 allovire [Clion]). Theoretically, the base could also be ali̯o-, cf. the n-stem CIL V 7730 alioni (cogn., Mondovi), but names in allo- are overall more common (cf. in the Alpine region CIL XII 81 [AE 1999, no. 997] allius [gent.] and 85 alliae at Embrun).
