Commentary

The short sequence is most probably an abbreviation of a personal name, though a hypocoristic on-stem is also possible. The base could e.g. be bou̯- 'cow' or, in the first case, also bou̯d- 'victory'. See also Tibiletti Bruno 1978: 146, Morandi 1999: 171 f., Morandi 2004: 554.
