Commentary
Images in Poggiani Keller 1991: tav. LXVIIb (photo), Morandi 2001: fig. 4 (photo and drawing, the latter = Morandi 2004: 656, fig. 24.207), Morandi 2004: tav. XXVII.207 (photo), Morandi 2007: 288, fig. 280.19 (drawing) and 296, fig. 93 (photo [mirrored along the x-axis]).
Sandstone spindle whorl, cylindrical with slightly rounded edges and smoothed surface (find no. 211). Morandi 2004: 654 and 2007: 296 f., no. 20 assumes that the object is a votive gift.
A spindle whorl from Parre with inscription "di difficile decifrazione" is mentioned by Solinas 1995: 384 – Morandi cites this reference, so this seems to be the same object, though Solinas gives 1992 as the find date. Solinas and Morandi 2001: 16 give a dating to the 5th century BC, which seems to agree with the vague indications in Poggiani Keller 1991: 440; see the inscription page for Morandi's palaeographical dating.
