Remains of a patronym in -al- derived from a personal name in °ni̯os*. Rhŷs 1914: 4 speculatively emends to slanialui* based on slaniai; cf. also )aniui and uenia (PID: 553, Tibiletti Bruno 1978: 138, Motta 2000: 202).
