Commentary

Five adjacent fragments, representing about half of the object, of a tapering bowl or lid with flat rim thickening towards the inside; coarse clay with sandy and micaceous enclaves; outer surface glazed dark brown, inner surface reddish-brown. Original max. diameter 22.4 cm. Found in the archaeological area of via del Vagine 2 in a late Imperial level which contains materials in secondary context (see Fortunati Zuccàla 2001: 47); dating based on type of clay and shape (Casini & Motta 2018: 124–126).
