Commentary
Simple on-stem personal name in the nominative, derived from the base mīni- 'gentle' with the hypocoristic suffix -uk-. Though the base's regular stem vowel is i (as in minicius/-a, see Delamarre 2007: 131 f.), a variant with u appears to be current in some areas including norther Italy, see the morpheme pages and cf. specifically CIL XIII 2744 minucia and the cognomen CIL V 6953 minuconius from Torino. See Rhŷs 1913: 17, Danielsson 1909: 23, n. 3, Lejeune 1971: 64, n. 212, Tibiletti Bruno 1978: 140, Tibiletti Bruno 1981: 161, Motta 2000: 205, Delamarre 2007: 134. See also Salomon 2024: 155.
